This student project is a design concept for ‘Permanent’ magazine. Permanent is a unique and experimental magazine that explores art and design in our everyday lives. Each issue theme is based on aspects of the everyday that is often overlooked due to being seemingly mundane, ordinary, or common. The first issue looks at accidental typography as both a method of wayfinding and a disruption to urban flows. Graffiti is a practice people use to interact with their environment, becoming a permanent yet temporary method of communication.
The font for the magazine logo and headings is Format 1452 by Frank Adebiaye and Anton Moglia (Velvetyne Type Foundry)

The experimental style and disruptive nature of graffiti are reflected in the imagery, typography, and page layouts of the magazine. Graffiti gives individuals a voice in a public space but also interrupts urban flows and wayfinding, usually being inscribed without permissionThis project allowed me to practice digital and hand-manipulating photography. I utilised my small scanner and Photoshop to create unique imagery with my photos. I decided on an orange and blue colour scheme to create consistency among the series of images.
